This utility will allow you to open a L4D2 UserSettings container file from your Xbox and decrypt it into plain text. You can then edit or paste in any mods you'd like, and inject these changes back into the save file.Instructions:1) Run the program..2) Click 'Open File' and locate your UserSettings file3) Select which CFG you'd like to edit, or start editing if it's already selected. 4) Press 'Save' to commit changes, otherwise press 'Revert' to restore the original state the file was opened.5) Copy to Xbox, you shouldn't need to rehash. If you're using someone elses save you will need to resign/rehash with an external utility.6) IF YOU HAVE ISSUES, TRY KEEPING IT UNDER 4096 CHARS!
I was trying to prevent this from being distributed on file hosting sites, ideally we want people to check back to left4modz site so they can make sure they have updates/etc, since this really hasn't had a whole lot of testing and there's quite a few updates I plan on pushing out. I know everyones just trying to make it easy to get instead of having to sign up to the forum, but it makes it easier for me to make sure everyone's getting the most up to date release since I was lazy and didn't write in an updating service (I had enough people pushing me to release the thing, even when it was buggy and ugly!)

If i went through that trouble, I should've just charged for it. I released it as quick as possible and kept it free, licensing/etc is just an added hassle (especially for something free). The problem is, i'm about to release an update for it (already!), that fixes a few minor bug issues/lets people mod more than one file at a time/etc. Other than implementing a database somewhere, forcing phoning home/etc, it's hard to let people know if they're all getting things from other places.
To begin, it's not my site. Nor do I receive anything if people go there. I get nothing, maybe a thanks but that's about it. The links are there to provide people a resource. If I was interested in advertising, I'd have thrown in some adware and a couple of banners or at the very least licensing to charge for it. Alas, I didn't.I 'shouldn't' do anything, I made the program because of all the idiots on game-tuts who kept saying they figured it out and just kept lying and bating people. One of the only logical people over there was vv3, and he was smart enough to see clear through everyone's bullshit just as I did. VV3 was probably my largest inspiration for actually making it and going public, and if he'd have been online around the time I was finishing up would've probably been part of the testing if he wanted. Although, I think he took my sarcasm out of context with the skeptic remark, as he doesn't seem quite as friendly as originally. In any event, the new release will be out shortly that has some minor bug fixes and a few other cosmetic changes (editing both cfg's at once, reverting, etc). And about the RSS, i hate programs that needlessly phone home. It's just an issue of mine, probably from being a Net Admin for a few years, I just don't trust anything that makes an outbound connection unless it needs to, so I typically write the same way. Anyway, I'm glad it's at least popular and people are getting a use out of it, if there's a bug/suggestion, just shoot me a message. Long live modding without a pricetag!EDIT: Oh, if anyone gets the new one, the increase in size is because I changed the splash screen, still free/no licensing/no phoning home.
