This can be done either in a ranked or private match. This is done using your Jtag. Take this patch provided here and bring your Jtag into system link making sure your Jtag doesnt spawn in. Then have the retail join the Jtag lobby in system link, spawn, wait about 5 seconds and then back out. Now depending on what you want to do next, here are 2 tutorials on private match vs ranked. Make sure you are host BTW.

Private Match Tut:

Once in the game after infected switch to spectator and then hit the online toggle button. Now switch back to what ever team you wish and it will act as if you are in spectator and NOTHING CAN KILL YOU! It will even pop your name up saying you are in spectator. Congrats you now have activated god mode! Please note that if you complete the match with the XP Bar on it will bring you to a ranked lobby and will attempt to find other players.

Online Ranked Match Tut:

Get infected and get host of a ranked match. When the match starts up hit the toggle online button to disable the game counting towards XP. You should see the XP Bar at the bottom disappear, this will allow you to change teams, go to spectator and then activate the toggle online button again to make it a ranked match again. After that switch back to what ever team you wish to join. There ya go you now have god mode for ranked matches. Please Note: if its anything except FFA then the game will screw up for everyone and make it look like its a giant FFA match but really you are on teams. So if you cant kill some people it means they are really on your team. Also if you end the match with the XP Bar turned off it will bring you guys back to a private match but here's the funny part, people who are searching for that match will be forced into your private match lobby.
