(request) all in one gamesave modding tutorial

This is my first post on this forum, so Hi All.
Now, i'm not a complete stranger to the 360 modding community, as i have flashed and been burning of DL'd games for quite a while now,
however, i'm a complete noob to modding savegames.
i don't know if its me being daft, or what it is, but i cant for the life of me find a tutorial that can be applied to any game, that goes from formatting the usb drive to loading the game save back into the game itself.
I also cant find a universal program other than Modio, which a hear you have to pay for, which i personnaly think is daft.
can any1 help me please?

Horizon is pretty good but they put tools for new/popular games in vip.
