No! If He Didn't Originally Get It, Then Tell Him That's Him Until It Comes Out Officially So No XBL Until It Is Officially Released, And Theres Now A Chance He Could Get banned

Yeah. There's no way out. The new update is on November 17 so no MW2  :'(
I would take his Xbox and run.

Ok dude do this

1. Go into System Settings --> Memory --> and just have the Hard Drive selected. Don't click on it.

2. Press LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X

3. Delete the update when prompted

*I haven't tried this as i have no need to, not guaranteed working!*

You can only clear updates from a memory card. It would be a hacker's heaven if you could erase/downgrade Xbox updates.

No. It only clears the GAME updates, which you can already do much easier.

If it worked that would mean you've downgraded your firmware. I don't think it's that simple  ;D

The updates have nothing to do with the hard drive. They are installed to the console itself. That's why tutorials for downgrading can be so difficult. Any way, they always said that if you install somebody's update on YOUR console, you won't be able to connect to LIVE until the official release. Soooo.... you're screwed until November 17. Sorry, dude.
